In addition to celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Finger Lakes icon continues piling up major awards in wine competitions everywhere.
The latest is a 92 score/gold medal/best buy designation at the 2012 World Value Wine Challenge for its Dr. Frank 2011 Semi Dry Riesling. That is the same wine that won the Governor's Cup -- the "best of show" -- at the recent New York State Wine & Food Classic.
In addition, the same winery earned other honors at the World Value event -- the Beverage Tasting Institute's comprehensive competition for wines priced at $20 and less:
• 92 score/gold medal/best buy/best U.S Gewurtztraminer for the 2011 Dr. Frank GewurtztraminerThe Gewurtztraminer also earned a gold medal in the recent Sommelier Challenge competition in San Diego.
• 91 score/gold medal/best buy for the 2011 Dr. Frank Dry Riesling
• 91/best buy/best white wine under $10 for the Salmon Run 2010 Chardonnay
• 90/gold/best sparkling wine under $20 for theChateau Frank Celebre Cremant
