Goold Apple Festival a wide-ranging event

CASTLETON -- Wines from five different New York wineries will be one of the highlights of the 24th annual Apple Festival at Goold Orchards this weekend.

Goold's Brookview Station Winery will be offering samples of its wines, along with those from Hudson-Chatham Winery, Catherine Valley Winery, Hunt Country Winery and Pazdar Winery in the wine tent.

The festival, which will go off rain or shine Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, will offer crafters and exhibitors, pumpkin picking, food vendors, pony and wagon rides, a corn maze, rock climbing wall, bounce house, haunted house and live entertainment ranging from the Berkshire Ballet to the Hill Country Cloggers.

The on-premises bakery will offer fresh cider donuts, pies, cookies and strudels throughout the weekend.

Adult admission is $8, children 12 and under admitted free. A discount ticket package is available in advance online. Wine tasting is a separate $8 charge, which includes a souvenir glass.
