Spa gets new Japanese bistro and lounge

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The city has a new Japanese restaurant now that the Pacific Grill has been transformed into the Izumi Sushi Asian Bistro and Lounge.

Partners Larry Zhao and Leo Yan, who have several decades of restaurant experience, bought Pacific Grill from Jeff Chen, who has retired, and even though they have some other Asian dishes, their menu is overwhelmingly Japanese. Yan is the executive chef.

The name and menu aren't the only things that have changed. A larger sushi bar has been installed and a new sake bar has a portfolio of 15 sakes, ranging in price from $6 to $100 a bottle.

Appetizers are priced from $5 to $11, sushi appetizers $8 to $12, sushi entrees $12 to $25 (entrees for two are $43 to $65) and signature rolls $10 to $18. There also are numerous other sides, combos and the like.There also are $9 set lunches and $10 bento lunch specials.
