Garden 24 owner expanding to Singerlands site

John Grizzaffi
SLINGERLANDS -- It's been just a touch over two years since chef/owner John Grizzaffi founded Garden Bistro 24 in Colonie. Now, he's expanding his reach.

Grizzaffi, 27, plans to open a 100-seat restaurant in leased space in this Albany County suburb at the Vista Technology Campus. His new venture will occupy about 3,000 square feet of space, obtained from the developers of the 440-acre campus, BBL Construction Services LLC and Columbia Development.

Grizzaffi, who grew up in an Italian-Irish family in the Poughkeepsie area, studied at the Culinary Institute of America  in Hyde Park. He then became the youngest manager in the history of the Bonefish Grill restaurant chain -- which, coincidentally, is making plans to open a venue in Colonie -- and came to the Capital Region to help open the high-end Latham steakhouse Filet 7 West, which now is the Sake restaurant.

Grizzaffi's original Garden 24 is located at 1839 Central Avenue in Colonie. Phone: 456-4566.
