'Gourmet raw food' feast in Ballston Spa

BALLSTON SPA -- Kim Klopstock is not your average chef-entrepreneur.

I discovered appealing shades of her quirkiness when I profiled her for a local magazine some years ago, and have kept an eye on her career since then.

In addition to being a caterer par excellence, her Fifty South Restaurant & Bar is the place for unusual and adventuresome cuisine, whether she is making it or is exposing her clientele to the work of others.

The latest example is another "gourmet raw food dinner" planned for 6:30 p.m. next Thursday (January 10). It will be a renewal of several earlier such dinners by Johanna Sophia of Saratoga Springs, a noted raw food specialist and CEO of Johanna's Raw Foods.

As Klopstock explains it, the dinner will be "an evening of delicious and healthy -- all organic -- raw vegan food. ... This food isn't at all like your normal average food. It tastes amazing and the raw food community is spreading. No gluten, no preservatives, no artificial anything. If you're a health nut or someone who loves to try new things come on by."
