Lake George restaurateur charged in drug case

Christopher 'Foot' Scully
LAKE GEORGE -- The operator of the Longshots Restaurant and Bar on Canada Street was charged Wednesday as part of a year-long  drug investigation that included wiretaps and extensive surveillance, according to a report by the Glens Falls Post-Star.

Christopher "Foot" Scully, 54, was one of the targets of the probe -- he has been hit with felony counts of conspiracy and criminal sale of a controlled substance --  but there are wheels within wheels within wheels in this case.

When the arrests of Scully and four other people were revealed by Warren County Sheriff's Department personnel, it was revealed that the probe involved the FBI, DEA and Homeland Security. The others arrested all were local people in their 20s.

Sheriff's Department Lieutenant Steve Stockdale was quoted by media as saying of Longshots, "There was a lot of activity taking place inside that establishment."

Scully, he said, "is more of a small-scale person, but he was purchasing his narcotics from larger people here like (arrestee) Michael Verlinger."

You can read the latest update on legal maneuvering in the case in the Post-Star story posted online.
