Italian region focus of Saratoga cooking school

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Friuli-Venezia Giulia may not be the most famous of Italy's 20 region, but it does have its own wine and cuisine that will be explored during a cooking school session at Chianti Il Ristorante.

Excutive Chef Fabrizio Bazzani will lead the demo, during which attendees sip wine while watching a supper being made from start to finish.

It is scheduled for 7 p.m. next Tuesday (January 15). Admission is $40 per person, with reservations available by calling 580-0025.

The event is one of a series of periodic cooking schools held by the restaurant, part of the DZ Restaurants group.

Friuli–Venezia Giulia is Italy's most northeastern region, bordered by Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east. To the south it faces the Adriatic Sea and to the west its internal border is with the Veneto region, the latter the birthplace of Bazzani. The region spans a wide variety of climates and landscapes from the mild Mediterranean climate in the south to Alpine continental in the north.
