Lake George pub to roll out 'Festival of Barrels’

LAKE GEORGE -- We just passed through the "Festival of Bells" season. Next up, the "Festival of Barrels."

It's a specialty outdoor beer event that drew an estimated 350 people last winter, hosted by the Adirondack Pub and Brewery as part of the microbrewery's "Barrel Aged Series" this winter. It's scheduled for 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 26.

Festivities will be enhanced by a collection of rare beers, a fire pit, live music by Capital Zen, and a few other goodies as attendees use their souvenir glasses to sample five different beers.

At the moment, the lineup -- subject to change -- includes:
  • Smoke Porter
  • Imperial Stout
  • Fat Scottsman 2011
  • Fat Scotsman 2012
  • Oak Barrel Triple
Other offerings will be available from the Captain Lawrence Brewery.

The barrels used to age the beers vary in style, including used Jack Daniel's whiskey, New York red wine, New York applejack and lightly-toasted barrels.

The Adirondack Pub and Brewery is located at 33 Canada Street. Phone: 668-0002.
