The Fulton County event, which will include eight seminars on hunting, fishing and other outdoors-related activities such as wood carving and making useful tools, also will feature a game-inspired buffet.
The keynote speaker will be Paige Patterson, president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and noted big-game hunter.
The event will begin at 9:45 a.m. with registration, vendors and a silent auction at the Sacandaga Bible Conference & Retreat Center's Ray Mills Youth Center. There are two seatings for the dinner: 1:45 and 2:30 p.m. Dozens of door prizes will be awarded before the day ends at 5 p.m.
The menu was put together by Bill Pitcher, food services director of Sacandaga Bible Conference. Pitcher, former food editor of the Bergen (NJ) Record and a former editor at the Gloversvile Leader-Herald, tells me:
"We're doing some great stuff here, working with local farmers and the Amish produce auction, cleaning the junk out of summer-camp meals, reaching for top quality ingredients when practical, pushing kids to try new things and even tapping our own maple trees, just for the fun of it. I'm having a ball."
Tickets, priced at $20, will be available at the door. The venue is located at 191 Lakeview Road on Sacandaga Lake. Phone: 883-3713.
