Oh, wait. Here's something different.
Chef-owner Ric Orlando will host a "fine tequila" dinner at New World Home Cooking at 7 p.m. next Friday (January 11).
Chana Krauz-Papp, a tequila expert who will focus on the Don Julio and Jose Cuervo brands, will be the special guest for the event that will include a tasting of five different tequilas as well as a blend of them in a cocktail.
The menu:
• Don Julio ReposadoReservations, priced at $60 each plus tax and tip, are required. Designated driver reservations are $50. New World Home Cooking is located at 1411 Route 212. Phone: (845) 246-0900.
Cocktail: fresh lime, cilantro and clementine margarita.
Food: Oysters with tequila ice, lobster ceviche with grapefruit, avocado, lime and honey, surf clam salsa with tortillas.
• Don Julio Añejo
Cocktail: DJ Añejo “Bolo.”
Food: Grilled shiitakes and maittakes, walnut pudding, orange-chocolate mole.
• Jose Cuervo Platino
Cocktail: “Sweet Heat.”
Food: Indian spiced quail, sweet potato vindaloo, mango lassi drops.
• Don Julio 1942
Cocktail: Hibiscus-Chipotle Rita.
Food: Hibiscus venison leg, spoonbread stuff poblano chile, grilled corn salad.
• Jose Cuervo Reserva de la Familia
Straight up in a snifter.
Food: Warm mascrated apple-pear crisp.
