Coffee shop transformation moving along

Tierra coffee art
ALBANY -- The change in ownership that transformed the Ultraviolet Cafe into Tierra Coffee Roasters has blossomed into more than simply a name change.

The cafe, located at 292 Delaware Avenue next to the Spectrum Theaters, is managed by Ron Grieco. It is intended to become both a moviegoers' stop as well as a neighborhood coffee shop.

Pricing has been lowered on many items -- $2 less for a fresh-made pannini, for example, and the menu broadened to include gluten-free organic quiches, house-made bakery items, and healthier sides with sandwiches like gluten-free salad instead of a small bag of chips are all part of the menu overhaul at lower pricing. Free self-serve coffee refills also are available.

Physical renovations have been completed behind the counter with stainless steel appliances and decor in the dining area, to make it warmer and more inviting.

Parent company Tierra Farm of Columbia County also owns Tierra Coffee Roasters at 1038 Madison Avenue, near the Madison Theater.
