| Action at the Beat Shop. |
The River Street Beat Shop, operated by Jim Barrett, is known for its food pantry support, each year targeting a specific program to benefit from his fundraising.
Beginning this Saturday, each weekend he will feature a different musical genre. This week, Off the Record, a 1960s rock ‘n’ roll lounge act, will be featured. All donations of money and non-perishable foods will go directly to the St. Augustine pantry that serves between 55 to 80 clients each Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
The concerts, which Barrett dedicates in honor of his mother, a musician, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays at the Beat Shop, 197 River Street. Anyone interested in participating in or performing at the events can contact Barrett at 272-0433.
St. Augustine Parish is located at 25 115th Street in the city's Lansingburgh section. Phone: 235-3861.
