Fire-ravaged Love Apple Farm gets OK to rebuild

GHENT -- The Love Apple Farms suffered severe damage during a blaze that struck the property on 1421 Route 9H on Wednesday.

Smoke was noticed in the barn and farm stand, "Then the whole place exploded into flames like a back draft," said owner Donald Golden.

The fire at the Columbia County farm stand forced closure of Route 9H between Old Post Road and Route 22 while several fire companies fought the blaze, according to the West Ghent Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook page.
