Mio Posto owner moving to Maestro's position

Danny Petrosino
SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Bill Donovan didn't have to go far to find a new chef and partner for his Maestro's at the Van Dam restaurant.

Danny Petrosino, chef-owner of Mio Posto in Saratoga Springs and a veteran of the Capital Region restaurant business, will succeed John LaPosta, chef and co-owner of Maestro's since 2006, according to the Times Union. LaPosta announced some weeks ago that he would be moving on after the Saratoga thoroughbred season ends.

Petrosino will have an expanded role compared to LaPosta's, also supervising Harvey's Restaurant & Bar, another Saratoga venue owned by Donovan, according to the newspaper. He will join Maestro's -- which will be closed for renovations and completion of a new banquet room from October 12 to 22 -- in late September after doing some work at Harvey's.

The 50something Petrosino's resume includes the Executive Suite in Schenectady, the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, the Glen Sanders Mansion in Scotia and Ecobelli's in Ballston Spa among other stops.

He reportedly is looking into selling tiny Mio Posto, which will be closed for vacation from September 2 to 17, scheduled to reopen on September 18 with the same staff except for Petrosino.

Maestro’s at the Van Dam is located at 353 Broadway. Phone: 580-0312. Mio Posto is located at 68 Putnam Street in the building that once hosted Lanci's, then 8 Tables then Sangwych. Phone: 423-7022. Harvey's is located at 14 Phila Street. Phone: 583-0003.
