Circles of Mercy plans to get its Irish on for fundraiser

Fans of Irish culture might like this event. Circles of Mercy has scheduled an "Irish Night" fundraiser for 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, October 8.

The event will include live Irish music, Irish folk dancing, food and drink, raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Reservations for individuals or tables of individuals are available by calling 462-0899 or by visiting Circles of Mercy, 11 Washington Street in Rensselaer, or Convent of Mercy at 634 New Scotland Avenue in Albany. Tickets also will be available at the door the evening of the event, to be held at Bishop Maginn High School, 99 Slingerland Street in Albany.

Circles of Mercy has for more than 16 years provided assistance to distressed families and individuals in the general area, especially women and children. Its services are provided without regard to clients' faiths.

Among its services are operating Catherine's Closet, which distributes donated adult, childrens' and infants' clothing;  household goods; training in financial literacy, tax preparation, basic computer skills, resume preparation and job interview skills, women's mentoring and support and numerous others.
