Savings & more in the Capital Region foodie revolving door


• The grand opening of the first Burger 21 chain location in the Capital Region has been postponed, according to an e-mail from the Colonie Chamber of Commerce today. "Health complications" is the cryptic reason given. No new date has been set. However, the restaurant actually opened in soft mode in late August at  622 New Loudon Road, Latham, in the new Village at New Loudon business complex.


• If you're an Amazon Local member, you can get some nice coupon bargains at the Red & Blue Ocean Grill & Bar in Troy. Here's the deal: $15 for $30 to spend on food and drink for two or more, and/or $25 for $50 to spend on food and drink for four or more. The restrictions: Limit of one voucher per purchaser; two additional 2 vouchers may be sent as gifts. Limit of one voucher redemption per individual and a limit of one per table per visit. • Pizza Hut has just launched a campaign to hand out a million free pizzas. Interested? It's the "Visa Checkout One Million Pizza" that offers freebies to consumers who use the chain's new online payment platform, Visa Checkout. The first one million customers who order a large pizza on Pizza Hut's website and pay with Visa Checkout will receive a coupon for a free one-topping pizza, redeemable on their next order. The coupon is valid for 14 days. Pizza Hut says approximately 50% of its overall online orders last year originated from its mobile app.

Romano's Macaroni Grill is having a month-long fundraising drive for the No Kid Hungry organization. For every $2 donated, you get $5 off your check, and for every $5 donated you get $10 off. • Attention, pasta lovers. The Olive Garden restaurant chain has quite a deal for you. For $100 you can eat all the pasta you want for seven weeks. Oops! Never mind. The chain made the offer at 3 p.m. today to the first 1,000 people signing up on its website. Just 95 minutes later, it announced via Twitter and Facebook that had given out all the deals. However, it did hint that more might be on the way.
