Saratoga Springs to host first International Flavorfeast

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The inaugural Saratoga International Flavorfeast has made a smart move to involve more restaurants than simply those located in one neighborhood.

Participating restaurants without downtown locations will be setting up tasting stations along Broadway, the city's main street, or in a downtown parking lot. The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, October 11.

The event is the brainchild of Ashley Dingeman, a Saratoga Springs resident who writes the Saratoga Food Fanatic blog. Her partner in the event is Network Saratoga. Since this is an "international event," the organizers cleverly have gotten the Saratoga Springs Post Office to agree to process passports at its 475 Broadway location from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Payment by check only.

Each restaurant will be offering food samples at $1 per. Also available will be $5 wristbands for five Peroni beer samples, to be sold at the Fingerpaint Marketing registration table, at Broadway and Division Street, for the first 200 attendees 21 and older. To avoid facing a sellout, you can buy the wristbands in advance online. Entertainment will be on hand all day, and trolley tours will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
