Forget restaurant week, it's 'Airport Restaurant Month'
It is a promotion dreamed up by HMSHost, the gigantic airport concessionaire, at many major North American hubs. It is modeled after the numerous restaurant weeks held in so many communities.
The HMSHost corporate culinary staff has devised various fixed-price menus with special dishes at 20 airports in the U.S. and Canada, including Kennedy International in New York, O'Hare International in Chicago, and Logan International in Boston. You can see the entire list online, including which restaurants at each are offering the specials.
However, despite the lure of such treats, I'll stay grounded for now. A 5-hour delay on one leg of my recent trip, and the inevitable airplane-germ-induced cold I'm now fighting, have convinced me to put travel plans on hold for a while.
