German-American Club's Oktoberfest set for this Sunday

ALBANY -- A lot of places have versions of Oktoberfest, but it is doubtful any are more authentic than that held each year at the German-American Club of Albany.

This year's festival, which is open to the public, will begin at 1 p.m. this Sunday, with live German music from the Mountain Brauhaus Band from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The menu for the day includes sauerbraten or chicken in  mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes, red cabbage or mixed vegetables, and dessert. A variety of German beers, including lagers, pilsners, and hefeweizens, will be available for purchase. The meal is priced at $23 by making reservations at 439-5932. Walk-in admission for music and dancing is priced at $6.

The German-American Club is located at 32 Cherry Street.
