'Haunted House Pub Crawl' Thursday in Albany

A guide directs an Albany ghost tour.
ALBANY -- The city has plenty of historic attractions as well as, often the case of very old communities, plenty of folklore. Put that together with a thirsty group of people and you'll have the "Haunted House Pub Crawl."

The event is scheduled for this Thursday, October 22, starting with a tour of the Ten Broeck Mansion, the 18th Century structure that is home to the Albany County Historical Association and repository of supernatural tales. The group then will walk several blocks to McGeary's Pub for more ghostly tales and a drink, then across the street to the Dutch colonial-era Quackenbush House that now is home to the Olde English Pub, and wind up back across the street with a nightcap at The Hollow, located in one of Albany's oldest buildings. The group will be offered drink specials at each stop on the crawl.

The tour will be split into three different sessions, assembling at the Ten Broeck Mansion at 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. It is sponsored by the Historic Albany Foundation and Original Albany Ghost Tours. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are priced at $15 for members, $20 for all others, and are available online.
