New Albany hotel also means new restaurant, bar

ALBANY -- The city finally has a worthy successor to the historic DeWitt Clinton Hotel.

The Renaissance Albany, a 204-room hotel opposite the Capitol, was created at a cost of $48 million in the longtime derelict shell of the old hotel. And, in addition to adding upscale lodging to the city, it also has added a restaurant and bar as well. The address is 144 State Street. Phone: 992-2500.

The restaurant is Wellington's, a casual-dress space offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is described as "local, sustainable, contemporary American Cuisine."
