City Beer Hall hosting Albany vs. Troy tasteoff

ALBANY -- Here's something that wouldn't have been possible just a few short years ago. It's the latest "Brawl at the Hall" event, this one pitting Albany against Troy in a tasting of beers brewed in the cities on opposite shores of the Hudson River.

The City Beer Hall, located at 42 Howard Street, will be featuring brew from Brown's Brewing Company and Rare Form Brewing in Troy as well as brews from Druthers and C.H. Evans Brewing of Albany, beginning at 7 p.m. next Thursday, November 19.

Brown's is the "elder statesman" among local breweries, while Rare Form is the fledgling in Troy. In Albany, C.H. Evans, which has historic roots in the city, is the senior brewery, with Druthers a recent entry as a second location of a brewery founded in Saratoga Springs.

The evening will have eight beers available in 12 rounds for paying customers who will cast their votes for the winning city.
