Developer planning Latham Route 9 restaurant project

A Frame Imperial Pools
LATHAM -- The stretch of Route 9 that runs from the Latham Circle south to Maxwell Road has seen a major influx of new dining spots in the past few years. But, one developer thinks there is room for at least one more.

Wade Development II has submitted a request for permission from the Colonie Town Planning Board to build a 5,000-square-foot restaurant and two standalone retail buildings of 7,000 square feet and 9,000 square feet at 615 Loudon Road (Route 9), where A Frame Imperial Pools now stands. The board is scheduled to meet Tuesday

If approval is received, it would be part of a potential new face to that section of the busy commercial strip. Across the street, the former Hoffman's Playland and several adjacent parcels have been redeveloped to become home to such food operations as Bellini's Italian Eatery, Bellini's Kitchen, Burger 21, Jimmy John's, Tala Bistro, and Five Guys Burgers & Fries. In addition, there are numerous restaurants and food-related shops in the adjacent Newton Plaza.

Next door to the A Frame lot is Goldstein Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram. Its four-acre parcel is on the market because the company wants to build a larger dealership several miles north at 968 New Loudon Road.
