(Originally published 11/10/15)
ALBANY -- Over the past 18 years, Price Chopper's "Capital Holiday Lights" in Washington Park has become a locally iconic event. As part of the sneak preview for the 19th year (November 27-January 3), the Albany Police Athletic League (PAL) will host its second annual "Chili, Chowder, and SoupFest."
It's set for 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 22, at the Washington Park Lakehouse, the site of the holiday lights show the PAL helps support.
Suggested admission donations are $5 per person or $10 per family. Food samples, priced at $1 per portion, will be supplied by a variety of local restaurants, delis, and food trucks. Proceeds will go to three charities -- the Albany Damien House, Ronald McDonald Charities of the Capital Region, and the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York. In addition, the lakehouse will be hosting Santa Claus and holiday vendors. Visitors will be able to vote on "people's choice" food awards, and live music will be provided by The Reverberators.
Among 18 food vendors lined up so far are the Airstream Catering Food Truck, Betty Boop Diner, Bonefish Grill, Brown's Brewing, Burger 21, Carol's Place, Carraba's Italian Grill, City Line Bar & Grill, Grandma's Pies, Junior's Bar & Grill, Maggie's Cafe & Sports Bar, Muddaddy Flats, Nicole's Restaurant and Catering, Parish Public House, Pepperjack's, Saati Deli & Catering, Stewart's Shops, and The Towne Tavern.
