The Ruck looking for amateur dessert chef contestants

TROY -- An interesting pairing idea: beers and desserts.

The popular beer bar The Ruck is planning to give amateur bakers and cooks -- no professionals allowed -- a chance to create desserts for a tasteoff-and-beer pairing scheduled for Wednesday, December 16.

It's not a simple matter of whipping up desserts for a couple of people. Participants will be required to make 50 portions, and must be present at the event to serve and talk about their entry. The desserts will be paired with beers chosen by The Ruck's certified cicerone Nick Nuzzolilo. The winning dessert will be featured at the pub during the week of December 28 through January 3.
