Troy Kitchen planning to light up its block

Cory Nelson poses with boxes of LED lights.

TROY -- It is no secret that twentysomething entrepreneur Cory Nelson wants to put the spotlight on his Troy Kitchen indoor food court project. But, I doubt anyone expected this.

"In an effort to continue to beautify Congress Street, TroyKitchen will install over 1,000 feet of purple LED string lights on each of the light poles on the block," Nelson said in an announcement.

"A big thanks to Troy-based nano-scientist Clint Ballinger of Evident Technologies for developing these lights, to all the neighboring businesses on the block, and to the City of Troy officials for allowing this to happen. "

Troy Kitchen is being created in the former Pioneer Market at 77 Congress Street. It will have four restaurants, a beer and wine bar, coffee shop, bakery, and a performance stage.
