2 Saratoga Springs pub crawls to benefit charities

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- 'Tis the time to get into the spirits, and vice versa. In this city, that can be done during a pair of fundraising events.

"Santa's Stocking Up," a charity pub crawl in support of the Code Blue Emergency Shelter, is set for Saturday at nine venues throughout the city.

The event, scheduled to run from 5:30 to 11:45 p.m., will began at the Wheatfields restaurant, 440 Broadway, and cover eight bars and a pizza place. Advance registration is $25 online (see "upcoming events"). At-the-door entry is $30.

The fee covers access to drinks specials, light fare, door prizes at the final stop, as well as prizes for the most festive outfits, and a visit from Santa Claus.

And, on the following Saturday (December 19), the 4th annual "Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl for Alzheimer's" will run from noon to 9 p.m. That one will begin at The Barrel House, 68 Beekman Street, and cover food at three locations, plus drink specials at each bar, a custom event mug for the first 100 registrants, and other Christmas swag, offerings, and so on.

Registration, available online, is $35, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Alhzeimer's Association of Northeastern New York.
