41 Days of Drinks (day 25)

• This is the latest entry in a daily feature that is running through New Year's Eve. To provide it, I combed through all sorts of sources -- my own archives, bar books, distillers' ideas, etc. -- even press releases from breathless PR people seeking to get their clients' products mentioned.

Here's a holdover cocktail from the early part of this young century, usually popular with the younger imbibers then and still popular with the under-40s now. Forget the silly name, and concentrate on the luscious ingredients.

Incidentally, there is a non-alcoholic version called The Tim Tebow that is a reference to the quixotic quarterback known more for his reluctance to be involved in premarital sex than for his National Football League success, of which he had little.

⅔ ounce peach schnapps
1⅓ ounces vodka
1⅓ ounces cranberry juice
1⅓ ounces orange juice

Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, then strain into a highball glass filled with fresh ice. (To make a Tebow, substitute peach purée for the schnapps and vodka.)
