As I reported last month, it is The Breakfast Spot, an offshoot of the Lake George cafe of the same name. The owners originally mentioned a potential December opening on their Facebook page, then pushed that a bit to early 2016. Obviously, they were able to meet their original projection even though as of today their Facebook page says "opening soon."
The 1960s-styled venue, located at 133 Remsen Street, offers "breakfast and cocktails" served all day until 8 p.m. However, during its beginning days that isn't the case. As management notes, "Unfortunately we have not received our beer and wine license yet, so we are unable to provide any cocktails at this time."
That's a shame, because it is part of the Breakfast Spot experience. A temporary license could have been obtained from the State Liquor Authority while the full application was pending, but that carries an initial fee of $700 for 30 days, then another $100 a month until, and if, the application is approved.
The Remsen Street location formerly was home to Nana's Kitchen and Al-Baraki Mediterranean Restaurant. Phone: 233-7700.
