'Italian Christmas Market' set for Colonie museum

COLONIE -- The public will have an opportunity to pick up some old-fashioned ethnic items at an "Italian  Christmas Market" scheduled for a three-day run.

The event will be held this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the American-Italian Heritage Museum.

The exhibit rooms are being transformed into market places filled with Italian merchandise available for purchase, including Ceppos and Befana items, hand-packed olive oils, personalized and themed ornaments, Sicilian carts, and a wide variety of baked goods. A highlight will be the organization's annual Italian nativity exhibit.

In addition, a market cafe will be open for refreshments.

The American-Italian Heritage Museum is located at 1227 Central Avenue, in the former Church of Our Lady of Mercy. Phone: 435-1979.
