Today's ride on the Capital Region Foodie-Go-Round

A series of five dinner-and-a-show events has been scheduled for January and February at The State Room, the event facility located at 100 State Street in Albany. The first part of the schedule: Alex Torres & His Latin Orchestra, January 16 and February 27; “My Big Fat Dysfunctional Life” comedy show, January 30 and February 6; The Accents party band, February 20.The venue usually specializes in weddings and similar major events. The package price is $69.95, plus tax, tip and beverages. Reservations: 432-7773.

• The former Buddha Tea House nightclub space at 69 North Pearl Street in Albany, vacant for the past year, will officially reopen with a New Year's Eve event as Levels Banquet Hall. The venture, which includes a full remodeling, is owned by Nafeesha Wray, Sierra Murray and Tatiana Cunningham, all of Albany.

• It's a bit outside the Capital Region, but plenty of people visit Oneonta for colleges, I-88 stop-offs, etc. So, this is to let such folk know a Five Guys Burgers and Fries will be built in the Southside Mall, 5006 Route 23. No specific date has been announced, just the usual "Coming Soon!" declaration. Not familiar with the chain's menu beyond what its name says? Go here for the online menu.
