Death Wish Coffee Co. in Super Bowl lineup

It won't last long, but it will be great exposure for a local small business.

Death Wish Coffee Company of Round Lake will have a 30-second commercial shown during Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, February 7. The company's message will be courtesy of winning the Intuit QuickBooks Small Business Big Game contest.

Given that Super Bowl ads cost in the millions, this is a coup for Mike Brown, owner of Saratoga Coffee Traders, who founded Death Wish in 2012 as an adjunct to his to downtown Saratoga Springs cafe.

Death Wish was one of three finalists for the commercial. The others were a San Francisco clothing business and a Rochester-area retailer.

As explained on the Death Wish website, "The first year this contest was completed, a toy company called Goldiblox won, putting them in front of more than 100 million fans. Their business grew to over five times its size in a year."
