GENEVA -- The owner of the small Gael Brewing Company is leading the charge to try to convince state lawmakers to even the playing field when it comes to craft beer tastings.
George Adams says it's unfair that small brewery owners must pay sales tax for beer tastings, while winery owners, many of them his neighbors, do not. "We're just looking for equitable adjustment for breweries and other craft beverage providers," Adams said.
Before opening his business in June, Adams was a homebrewer and formerly worked as an engineer. He's enlisted the New York State Brewers Association to help in his fight.
