BurgerFi restaurant chain to the Capital Region were announced last year, Latham and Saratoga Springs sites were mentioned, Now, even before the second location is built, plans for a third are under way.
The first BurgerFi debuted last August on New Loudon Road (Route 9) in Latham in the new strip of buildings where Hoffman's Playland once operated. Financing has been arranged for construction of the second, at 460 Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs, to be completed by mid-summer. And now, the partnership behind the franchises has submitted plans to the Town of Guilderland's zoning board for a 3,500-square-foot BurgerFi. If approved, it would open by late summer or early fall.
The BurgerFi projects are a venture from Bill Lia and other owners of the Lia Auto Group and Angelo Mazzone, founder of the Mazzone Hospitality collection of restaurants and catering services.
BurgerFi, which began in Florida, is a relative newcomer to the chain dining scene. It will mark its fifth anniversary in February. Thirty-one of its current 80 locations are in Florida; the others are spread throughout 22 other states.
