Proctors prepping for a 'Mardi Gras Festival'

SCHENECTADY -- While a number of restaurants and pubs around the Capital Region are planning some level of Mardi Gras festivities in February, Proctors is going all-out.

The downtown entertainment complex is putting together "Mardi Gras Festival," to begin at 6 p.m. next Friday, February 5.

It will include authentic Cajun cuisine, specialty cocktails such as the Hurricane that is specific to the Gulf Coast region, traveling music, a drag queen parade and, of course, Mardi Gras beads.

Two New Orleans bands -- Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys and Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole -- will begin playing at 8 p.m. in Proctors' GE Theatre for listening and dancing.

Tickets, available online, are $40 per person, which includes a $5 coupon toward the purchase of food or beverage which otherwise will be sold a la carte.

Proctors is located at 432 State Street. Free parking will be available in the Broadway parking garage, courtesy of the Upstate Ford Dealers organization.
