Colonie pizza-deli owner Nick Audi dies

Nicholas T. Audi, who founded and for the past 28 years operated Pizza Maré & Delicatessen and also owned Pickles Deli, both in Colonie, has died at the age of 50.

Audi was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Siena College. After embarking on a career as an accountant, he soon switched gears and went into the food hospitality business. According to his obituary, "he won multiple awards for the Capital Region's best pizza and wings, later representing his restaurant in New York City, earning bronze in the Pizza Olympics."
