Chef David Gibson's dish from Wellington’s, the restaurant at the Renaissance Albany hotel, was a macaroni with roasted poblano and smoked gouda cream sauce, crispy pork belly, and jalapeño gastrique.
The event draws its name from the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) that is holding its men's and women's basketball tournament at the nearby Times Union Center.
The new event drew an estimated 1,000 attendees to taste the wares of about a dozen restaurants, all as a fundraiser for the Times Union Hope Fund, which serves children in need throughout the Capital Region.
Gibson became executive chef at Wellington's about a year ago after serving as executive sous chef during its startup. Previously, he was executive chef of the former Creo in Guilderland's Stuyvesant Plaza after stints with Mangia, the Hall of Springs, and Angelo's Tavolo.
