State seizes Chatham Cafe & Deli for unpaid taxes

The Chatham Cafe & Deli has been seized by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for less than $10,000 in unpaid back taxes.

The business, located at 41 Main Street, has two outstanding warrants for sales tax and withholding tax totaling $9,342, according to the department. The liability for the withholding tax dates to 2015, the sales tax liability to 2016.

Those dates are interesting because the business is owned by Tom and Dan McDermott, who just opened it in August 2015. No mention is made of the development on the business's Facebook page, and it does not have a website.
