Zen Asian expanding downtown Schenectady venue

A downtown Schenectady restaurant has begun working on expanding its footprint. Literally.

Owner Andy Zheng's Zen Asian Fusion Lounge will reveal an addition sometime in May or June that includes a second bar, a larger women's restroom, and space for banquets and private events. Overall, it should add about 65 seats.

The project involves expanding from its current 469 State Street location into adjoining space that had been home to the Anthology Studio flower shop. At some point, Zen may close for several days to accommodate removal of the wall now separating the two spaces.

Zen, the expansion area, and the SEFCU branch all are in the same building although the streetside facades give them the appearance of being in separate buildings.

Zen's current hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday, noon  to 10 mp.m. Sunday. Phone: (518)280-0388.
