Troy city planners review shape-shifting Dunkin' Donuts

A local restaurateur is looking to expand his Campbell Avenue presence in Troy. But, exactly how much keeps changing.

Nick Riggione, who with his brother Gennaro operates eight Inferno Pizzerias in the Capital Region -- including one at 79 Campbell Avenue -- as well as the chicken restaurant Kluckers at 506 Campbell, had an application seeking approval for a Dunkin' Donuts at 487 Campbell, just east of Burden Pond, on tonight's agenda of the city Planning Commission.

The project has, or has had, a variety of addresses and sizes mentioned since originally submitted in January 2016. At that time, it was referred to as a single 7,000-square-foot building. In February of this year, that was changed to two buildings of 2,000 and 3,800 square feet. Currently, it has shape-shifted to 1,600 square feet (20-by-80 feet) at an estimated cost of $150,000.

The undeveloped plot opposite the Franklin Terrace Ballroom -- whose address is 126 Campbell Avenue -- seems also to have a shifting address. The Planning Commission agenda lists it as 487 Campbell Avenue, although Riggione's application lists the property owner as 493 Campbell LLC, and paperwork from his architect, Keith Cramer, lists the address as 495 Campbell Avenue and the owner as also being at 222 Guideboard Road in  Clifton Park, the same address as one of Riggione's pizzerias.

So, we know we're in the approximate ballpark. And, how big the project will be. We assume. For now.
