Pat Popolizio has a new neighbor. Himself.

The owner of the Waters Edge Lighthouse restaurant and marina in Glenville today began a "soft opening" of his latest venture, the town's first hotel. Creation of the $16 million Homewood Suites by Hilton was spurred by the opening of the nearby Rivers Casino that has been the catalyst for a spate of new businesses in the area.

The hotel is located on the Mohawk River on Freemans Bridge Road, as is Popolizio's restaurant. The five-story, 106-room hotel features an indoor pool, an outdoor patio, a business center and water views . Popolizio plans to seek rezoning of property he owns on the opposite side of the river to become the site of a townhomes.
