Openings & Closings & Etc.

• The latest reports on restaurant openings, closings and transitions from the Greater Capital Region, including the Catskills, Southern Vermont and the Berkshires.


• The Barrel Saloon & Texas BBQ, which has operated in Albany's Warehouse District for six years, will be gone by the end of July. Owners Chris Pratt and Alessio Depoli have decided to close and sell the operation to concentrate on their downtown Albany businesses -- The Capital Bistro, Pearl Street Pub, Steuben Street Market,and Public House 42. However, the  942 Broadway location will  not go dark. Keep reading.


• A quartet of local bartenders are purchasing The Barrel Saloon as their first ownership venture. They will close the 942 Broadway, Albany, for several weeks in August as they renovate and retool it as a casual craft beer bar they will call Lost & Found. The team consists of Jesse Snyder of The Lion heart Pub, Bob Poulin, Charlie Lawson, and Bridget McGinley.

• The Queensbury Hotel has opened Park 26, a revamped dining space that is a companion to its longtime Fenimore's pub. Dan Mattocks, formerly of The Chateau on the Lake in Bolton Landing, is the new chef. Hours: breakfast and lunch daily, dinner from 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Phone: (518) 792-1121. The hotel is located at 88 Ridge Street, Glens Falls.
