Recall: Grainless granola at Trader Joe's

Trader Joe’s, which has a long history of food products, has just issued a recall of its grainless granola that was sold here and in 22 other states.

“We have been alerted by our supplier of Trader Joe’s Grainless Granola (SKU# 56307) that product with BEST BY date codes from 032818 through 041018,” Trader Joe’s said in an announcement on its website.

No illnesses have been reported, but the granola has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the bacterium that causes Listeriosis, a serious infection likely to sicken pregnant women and their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems, CDC said.

Trader Joe’s says all potentially affected product has been removed from store shelves and destroyed. Returning it to the store will result in a full refund.
