Smith's Tavern closes out with a nostalgic sale

The finale at Smith's Tavern (Altamont Enterprise photo)
Smith's Tavern in Voorheesville has closed after a run of more than 70 years, sold to allow its  owners to retire and to make way for yet another outpost of the Stewart's convenience store empire.

The restaurant's final days were a mix of nostalgia-swapping regulars and the return of some customer who had fallen away from its iconic pizza but wanted one last slice. And, there was an opportunity to buy a piece of the venue. Well, escept for the famous train collection. That will be sold separately.

Andrew Schotz has a nice piece in The Altamont Enterprise about the sell-off days that took place Tuesday and Wednesday. You can read it by clicking here.
