Spa veteran Farber partnering in duo-level kitchen and bar

It's as predictable as the coming of summer. Local restaurant scene veterans opening a new enterprise just in time for the annual Saratoga Springs thoroughbred racing season that can be a make-or-break time for a new venture.

Ron Farber and Ralph Balsamo have announced on Facebook a new spot in a familiar dining place. Their R&R Kitchen + Bar is being developed for an early-July opening at 43 Phila that for more than a decade was home to the bistro 43 Phila then for a short time the Seven Horse Pub.

They are describing their plans as offering casual dining downstairs in the R&R Kitchen and Bar and more intimate dining upstairs in a space called Ronnie & Ralphie’s.

Farber was chef-owner of the now-defunct Saratoga restaurants 8 Tables and 28 Tables as well as several other efforts before going to work with Mazzone Hospitality at its Fish at 30 Lake in Saratoga. Balsamo has been a waiter at Mazzone's Angelo’s 677 Prime in Albany, the independent 15 Church in Saratoga, and his family’s Villa Balsamo in Saratoga.
