Openings & Closings & Etc.


• The latest reports on restaurants and food vendor openings, closings and transitions from the Greater Capital Region, as well as the Catskills, Southern Vermont and the Berkshires.

CLOSINGS

• The Vermont State Tax Department has closed down the Sugar House Bar & Grill in South Burlington for "noncompliance of meals and room tax," according to the department. A hearing on the case was scheduled for today. The bar opened a little over a year ago at 733 Queen City Park Road, the former home of Fanny O's. According to the tax department, a business typically needs to post bond or make a payment plan to reopen.


OPENINGS


• The Slavonian European Cafe
, located on Lark Street in Albany, just south of Washington Avenue, is open for business. It speciailzes in housemade soups, savory stewlike dishes such as rabbit and lamb not usually found locally, stuffed breads, whole roasted fish, etc. You can see a photo gallery on its Facebook page. Finnbar's Pub, located next to the main Post Office at 452 Broadway in downtown Troy, has reopened after some down time tom allow for a Costello family vacation. Lunch and dinner service has resumed, a new summer menu has been unveiled, and goodies again are available from Cheesecake Machismo. Phone: 518-326-3994.

Albany Distilling is debuting new its interior courtyard bar, called The Patio, at its under-development space at 75 Livingston Avenue, several blocks from its Quackenbush Square distillery. Hours for the open-air patio: 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, dependent on weather.


A new breakfast and lunch café, Bread&Butter, will open in the fall at 139 Eastern Avenue in St. Johnsbury, VT, in a building owned by singer Neko Case. Dylan's Café had operated there until it closed last September.
