Beer Diviner planning busy summer festival schedule

The Beer Diviner's brief effort to go from being a country mouse to also being a city mouse didn't work, but that doesn't mean it has gone into hiding.

The nanobrewery located in the wilds of eastern Rensselaer County tried adding a tasting room in downtown Troy in the fall of 2016 as well, but that venture lasted less than a year. Now, in its first summer since then, owner Jonathan Post has lined up an interesting summer events schedule.
• Will Kempe's players from Troy will perform Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Othello" from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday July 15. Attendees are invited to bring a picnic meal, and Post's line of ales will be available for sale.

• A music event called "Divine Vibes" is scheduled for Friday-Sunday, July 20-22. It will feature 20 or so bands on two stages, playing all styles of music. Arts, crafts, and vendors will be present, and camping space will be available for a nominal fee for overnight stays. Admission is free.

• The 2nd annual "Beer Camp" is scheduled for Friday-Sunday, August 10-12. It will include multiple bands, malting, hop growing and all grain brewing talks and demonstrations. Food, outdoor games, fire circles, and a "Stations of the Brew" pilgrimage to Buck's Rock peak are planned, and cabin or campsite reservations can be made online.
The Beer Diviner is located at 243 Bly Hollow Road, Petersburgh. Phone: 518-210-6196.
