BJ's Brewhouse debuts tomorrow in Colonie
COLONIE -- Where motor oil, tires, and other items once were dispensed at an automotive shop on the Central Avenue corner of Colonie Center, as of tomorrow (June 11) barbacoa chicken, specialty pizzas, barbecue bison burgers and other "enlightened" dishes will be carried to customers of the new BJ's Brewhouse.
The newest of the chain's 199 locations offers a wide variety of food items, many of which it refers to as "enlightened," no doubt because of the whole-grain, gluten free, and vegetarian components.
The company began in 1978 in Santa Ana, CA, as BJ's Chicago Pizzeria. Some of its locations contain a brewery and go by the name BJ's Restaurant & Brewery, and make beers for the chain. Others, such as the new Colonie venue, use the BJ's Brewhouse title.
On its website, the company says, "We pride ourselves in our craft and attention to detail. Our guests come here for our award-winning handcrafted beer. They come here for the Southern California twist we’ve put on the Chicago-style pizza. And they come here for our Pizookies, our world-renowned dessert. But, above all, we know people come here to make their good times better."
Oh, the Pizookie? It's a fresh-baked cookie (white chocolate, macadamia nut or chocolate chip), topped with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream and your choice of syrup.
Hours: 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday to Thursday, until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: 518-375-3570.
