HV Cab Franc Coalition ramping up its marketing

MARLBORO -- The founding members of the Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Coalition (HVCFC) have launched a distinctive seal that will mark locally-produced bottles that meet the organization's standards for production quality and authenticity.

HVCFC, founded a little over two years ago with the support of local growers, winemakers, and industry organizations, set out to showcase "the many high-quality, terroir-driven Cabernet Franc wines produced by a growing number of dedicated winemakers, and to encourage more plantings of Cabernet Franc vines throughout the Hudson Valley."
The new Coalition seal.

The seal, which features a soaring hawk, several species of which are indigenous to the Hudson Valley region and are integral to the area’s vibrant and thriving ecosystem, guarantees that at least 85% of the grapes used in making the wine are grown in the Hudson Valley and that the wine has been aged for at least 12 months. The hawk icon symbolizes the unified commitment of coalition members to grow and produce Cabernet Franc wines that capture the region’s terroir.

“This striking seal is a real mark of the quality, passion, and pride that we in the Hudson Valley have for the Cabernet Franc wines that are being produced in the region,” said Doug Glorie, HVCFC president. “We hope that when wine lovers see this new sticker on a bottle, they will recognize that it represents the best that the Hudson Valley has to offer.”

The seal will appear on locally-produced bottles as well as other coordinated marketing materials, including vineyard signs and window decals for producers, special signage at events, and promotional postcards.

The coalition is in the planning stages of its 2nd annual "Hudson Valley Cabernet Franc Week," to run from November 27 through December 4, 2018, which is National Cabernet Franc Day. It will include increased retail opportunities and industry tasting events across the region.
