Special brewing effort returns for SummerNight this Friday

SCHENECTADY -- If you try the newest version of SummerNight Ale made as a cooperative effort by several local brewers, don't thik your tastebuds are playing tricks on you. They actually will not taste exactly the same.

For the "SummerNight 2018" block party festivities scheduled for Friday, the third installment of the SummerNight Ales effort by Mad Jack Brewing Co., Wolf Hollow Brewing Co., and Great Flats Brewing will offer beers using the same recipe except for one item -- their own distinct hop. Otherwise, they'll all use the same grains from 1886 Malt House in Fulton, Montgomery, and the same yeast to make the American pale lager. The beers will also come in about 5%  abv (alcohol by volume).

"SummerNight" will be held on State Street between Broadway and Barrett Street, and on the Jay Street pedestrian mall. The free event will begin at 5 p.m. The Spin Doctors play on the GE Main Stage at 8:30 p.m., with the county’s 2016 and 2017 "Battle of the Bands" winners Lucy and Bendt opening.
